This book is well written. The Author shows you in simple test how easy it can be to promote yourself and sell yourself to the general public. He also gives great tips and advice on how to do so as well. The Author also includes great quotes from movies and people. He also gives tips on how to dress for success. This book is a must have for anyone that is in a sal…es position, or trying to promote their own work. I really enjoyed reading this book as it has given me as an Author myself some great ideas on how to sell myself and my own work to others without seeing pushy. His biggest tip that he shares within the book is to be confident and not arrogant when trying to sell anything. The Author also uses some great examples from his own experiences in sales on how to sell any product you have whether it’s face to face or via the internet or telephone. I can’t stress enough that the Author really knows what he’s talking about and takes you on a wonderful journey to help those around him. Also I need to add that not a lot of people out there would share their trade secrets with the world in order to help themselves, but this Author has unselfishly shared his secrets so that we could all better ourselves in sales!
“El mensaje es simple y poderoso: Sí, usted puede ser más! Este libro fue escrito para aquellos que apuntan alto, por alguien que lo hizo y lo logró.”

Several years ago I was admonished to keep my face in the book and to stay linked in. The person who told me this meant the electronic Facebook and Linked-in social networking sites. But, I took it literally to mean face in the Bible (the book) and linked into Jesus, God, The Holy Spirit, and my family, and friends. Since then, I have been working on reading applying and having daily mentoring sessions with the likes of many great people mostly all through their books but only occasionally in person with others outside of family and co-workers. In essence I have spent almost every ounce of my energy investing in creating a better person out of myself. I want to say it has been very fruitful, but not so fast. I am still on the journey!
Faithfully, God brought me to his word everyday and his Son as the first one I try to speak to about anything, next to several great organizations and absolutely awesome people for the personal touch I need and to keep me in the mentoring book. Alas, Alan is the one I recently went back to for more. There are only so many books one can spend time on – or as Solomon stated in Ecclesiastes 12:12 “But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body.” And as a most memorable farmer in my family told his best friend, a highly educated statesman, “Why would I want to read any more books, because I can’t always do all of the things I want to do in the four or so books that I have already read.” $ell Your Little Heart Out! Is a best in it’s class. The kind of book for success today and if it is one of only four books you read in life you will be very fortunate not to miss it.
I’m so glad to have contacted Alan just a few weeks ago, the timing was just right before his book release. It was almost like He was waiting for me to link in. I recently read The Sales Bible by Jeffrey Gitomer, and How I raised Myself from Failure to Success in Selling by Frank Bettger and many more than dozens of various others all in my quest to invest in myself. I have given up jobs, friends, great ideas and locations, and even finances to work on me and to develop Christ like attitudes in everything I do. I read and re-read and try to apply in great detail. But with these three by Alford, Bettger, and Gitomer and an attitude beholding to God a home run can be found or at least so many base hits that the sales score will soon be in your favor and mine! I have great confidence in Alan. I have worked side by side with him. If you are in sales of any kind or if you just want to be a better person you will want to buy a copy of his book right away and take your time listening to the author teach. He is one of the best in one of the most successful organizations on the earth.
$ell Your Little Heart Out! Is a book that I intend to read and re-read. It will be on the top shelf in my library. It is deep, “Electronic” and right there along with keeping the face-in-the-book and staying linked-in. I can’t wait to see what the investment will turn out. I am very glad to write this short review of Alan’s book. I hope you will strive to acquire the peace that good rapport with everyone brings and in doing this that you will not just sell your little heart out, but that you will get to come along side many great people in your life. They all make lot’s of mistakes to get to success. The modern day basketball hero, named Michael Jordan, missed over thirty-thousand shots in his career! It truly is all about people! They are waiting for you. Get out there and meet lot’s of them everyday.
The Author, Alan Alford is much more than an inspiration. He is way, way above average and just average. He is not a hero and he is a hero. He is like all of us. But, he knows how to get things done really well! He is an exemplary servant with words and non-verbal language and a great leader and his book explains how he does it. Here is a quote you probably won’t find in his book, “The challenge in sales is staying hot all the time,” Alford said. “You have to be upbeat on every call, not just during the periods callers are eager to buy. Closing is a process that requires you to listen to your customers carefully and effectively pursue the sale. It may sound simple, but it works.”
I plan to stop adding any new books to my reading list for a very long time so that I can re-read this book, become a better verbal and non-verbal word servant with an ever open mind, apply all the lessons learned, and sell my little heart out!

I must say that you not only know how to teach, you also know how to inspire and get people excited to sell. It is a great book and I definitely learned from it.
By reading it, I have learned what I have been doing correctly and what I need to change.
I also showed the book to my friend, a sales professional, to get his opinion. His comment was (in verbatim), and pardon the expression, “this is good s—”. Congratulations for not only publishing a book, but for writing a really good one. I love this book.
“I have been looking for a book like this for several years. I personally have not come across anything like it since Joe Girard wrote “How to sell anything to anybody” back in 1977 (yes I am that old, I read it in 1982). I really enjoy sales and as Anthony Robbins would say “I believe in constant and never ending improvement.” I have read as many as 40 sales books over the years and if you are selling with the majority of the time getting one meeting to make the deal, this book is one of the best resources you will find.
I loved this book because of Alan has covered things others have missed or not covered in as much detail.
The foundation section:
1. Expands on the necessity for a positive mental attitude and faith in yourself and your product.
2. Provides a great example of how to truly turn sales into what Zig Ziglar calls “the best paying hard work you will ever do.”
3. Demonstrates how to manage your life around sales to keep everything balanced.
4. Points out details that that others have not adequately covered on proper preparation for your sales day.
The Customer Interaction section:
1. Provides excellent ways to build rapport with your customer in a short period of time.
2. Explains how to truly find the buying clues with a short interaction with a customer.
3. Helps you prepare for converting “shoppers” into “Buyers” (All shoppers can be buyers if you can find the right solution.)
4. Creating urgency in any environment.
5. How to improve efficiency to increase your sales.
The Closing section:
1. Provides ways to quickly gauge customer interest and efficiently close the sale.
2. Helps you keep you customer from walking away when a sale can still be made.
3. Excellent examples of stalls vs. objections.
4. Preventing a slow start from ruining your whole day.
The Frustration Management and Character sections:
1. Great examples of how to learn from others no matter how good you are. (Sam Walton did the same thing.)
2. You can be stripped of everything else and rebuild… Character will take you through.
3. I love the 75 cures for what Zig Ziglar calls “Stinking Thinking.”
Alan give you a good background to his personal life and even shows how he has used things in his life were he didn’t finish first to learn from his experiences. This is something we could all do more.
Alan took a bold step forward by self publishing this book. Some have criticized him for this on Amazon. Apparently, these individuals have never heard of Dave Ramsey (Financial Peace and [...]). Dave started with his first book being self published and selling the first copies out of the trunk of his car. Now he is a bestselling author, radio show personality and motivational speaker. I hope others learn from Alan as I have and enjoy this book. Alan thanks for writing it and I look forward to future publications.
* What this book is not:
1. The first book a starting sales person should read. I would recommend any for the classics from Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy or even Jeb Blount.
2. If you need to learn about lead generation and prospecting this is not the place to look.
3. A book for someone who works with a long sales cycle in industries like enterprise software sales and heavy equipment.”
I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it! I find all the tips and advice that the author gives to be extremely helpful. From the useful acronyms to help you remember which skills to develop/improve on, to the tips he gives about different forms of communication to be mindful of (e.g. body language, avoiding fillers when speaking, eye contact, etc). I especially liked all of his advice on how to exude confidence. I definitely agree that your attire, hygiene, diet/exercise, and sleeping habits affect your confidence level. They all have a major impact on your energy and mood which will affect the way that customers/clients will perceive you and ultimately will affect sales.
You will learn a lot from this book since the author is a seasoned sales professional who has been successful in face to face sales as well as over the phone sales. You can tell that he is very knowledgeable and I’m sure this is what led him to be a top sales person. Not only do I think this book is helpful for sales professionals, but really for all professionals who interact with people. It’s important to know how to deal with different personalities, how to manage frustration, and knowing when to just be quiet and listen. These are things we can all improve on and the author illustrates methods to improve all of these skills. I definitely recommend this book – you will learn a lot!
$ell Your Little Heart Out! is not like any other sales book I have ever read! It teaches you fundamental sales strategies from a top seller of a Fortune 500 company. The Author gives you real life examples of how to manage frustration, handle objections, and stay motivated to achieve goals. I would highly recommend $ell Your Little Heart out if it’s your 1st day on the job, or if you have been selling for 20 years. Everyone can learn SOMETHING from $ell Your Little Heart Out.
Wow, $ell Your Little Heart Out! is a MUST OWN if you work or wish to work in the world of professional sales. This gem gives an amazing amount of incite into the world of sales and offers so many great strategies to help one succeed in it. Between his detailed and effective personal sale strategies and an included sales tracker for the reader; you could really tell the the author(Alan L. Alford) wants the reader to be the best salesman he/she could be. Whether your in sales or not this book is a great read, but if you are in sales and wish to be a better salesman, this is a MUST HAVE!!!! Fantastic book!
Alan’s lessons in sales are but a microcosm with respect to the lessons in how to trade or sell respect with others; and when respect, both for you and others, is achieved success will always follow, including success with sales. Alan’s formulations are an excellent cross-section of successful sales techniques used by the best of the best in sales; and when combined with some his original content blended with a first class presentation, the results are astounding. Recommended by David Grzan, Successful Sales Professional for over 30 years.
Full Disclosure: I have personally been sales coached by Alan Alford and worked one-on-one with him. I have not been asked to write this review I CHOOSE to write this review.
I have had the pleasure of being able to have sat down with Alan one-on-one to work on my sales skills. Recently, just as every salesperson experiences, I found a low moment where I felt all I was doing was just going through the motions of my job just to get through the day. I was not focusing on the things that I should have been focusing on. I was focusing on the things that were out of my control that still managed to get me frustrated and tired of my job.
Then I read Alan’s book.
I’m not just saying this because I know that many co-workers and Alan himself will see this review. I am being honest and upfront – just as I am indicating I have interacted with Alan at work as a co-worker and as a coach. I really enjoyed the uniqueness of this book just because it was something different. This book is not perfect, but nor does it have to be. As salespeople, many of us do strive for perfection and do strive for doing the best job we can. Alan calls us out in the book and advises us to really focus on the important things in sales. Those important things are HAVING FUN, ENJOYING WHAT YOU DO, and focusing on BEING HAPPY. Yeah… we all have those parts of the job that are frustrating and tedious but Alan teaches us to just suck it up and push through them anyways so we can spend more time on the things we enjoy about our job rather than focusing on the few things that frustrate us.
I can really appreciate how Alan calls these things out in his book as early as he did. I am the type of person that just wants to get to the meat without the fluff and “feel good” stuff. I really felt a connection with this book while I was reading it. Maybe it’s just from personal experiences, or by having the fortunate opportunity of being able to work with Alan, but I really could hear him saying these things as if we were working on my sales technique one-on-one. This will be one of those books that I will read over and over because it was “The Wake Up Call I Needed”. This was a very uplifting book that made me understand that I was not alone in what I was feeling – regarding the repetition of the job, and some of the “have to do’s” that many sales people often grid their teeth at.
Thank you Alan for writing a book that encourages us re-focus ourselves on all of the right things. God, Family, Happiness, and the good ‘ol “Work Hard Play Hard” mindset. Whether it’s this week, this month, or later this year, your book will continue have a impact on those who read it. Some will complain, others will rejoice, but it is you who teaches us to brush off those who are against us – writing reviews in their mother’s basement while watching re-runs of Futurama – and seek out those who are supportive and those who are focusing on all of the positive things that we should be caring about. Congratulations on your recent success and as you say continue to “$ell Your Little Heart Out!”.
This is a really good encouraging book for people entering into a sales job and career. The book is full of anecdotes and great stories about what it takes to be a top-tier sales person. I liked the author’s attitude. He’s positive and clearly, super ambitious. Great, quick read!
